It's been a week since I saw the incredible feathered bonnet -- one of many Native American pieces -- in the High's exhibition, Go West! Ever since, I've been gravitating to feathers even more than usual. Take for example the new pastel series from decorative artist and illustrator Bess Frelinghuysen Ratliff.
In college Ratliff studied Medieval and Renaissance art, and her appreciation for rich nuanced color as well as subtle shading comes through in these works on paper. Simply titled Feathers, the series will be shown at Treillage in New York November 20 - December 6. Bunny Williams, John Rosselli and Miles Redd will host the preview party.
