Maybe you've previously read that
The Design Library is home to a staggering textile archive (actually, the collection is reportedly the world's largest) but in this case seeing really is believing. Now available online is a virtual tour of
the Library in the Hudson River Valley's Wappingers Falls. Take
a peek inside this light, open place where seven million textile designs -- ranging from mid-18th to late- 20th-century creations and including a dizzying array of documentary fabrics, wallpapers, embroideries, yarn dyes, and original paintings -- are carefully organized and stored.

Wow. I have this impression of a unique smell of all that fabric in one place. Makes me think of waking into a greenhouse, the have an aroma that brings back memories. Fabric stores have it too. With millions of samples, some 200 years old, it must be amazing.
Thank you for the virtual escape, absolutely delightful!!
Terry -- I love your comparison to a greenhouse. I know exactly what you mean about the distinct smell of a fabric warehouse.
Laura, Eliana -- So glad you enjoyed it. Wouldn't it be great to explore this place?
Wow, this is amazing!! Would love to check it out!!

Donna -- I could spend days, no weeks, there :)
I enjoy always your latest news. I am reminded of when I was a student at Boston University and how I would frequent The Mugar's Library Archive:
https://www.facebook.com/SpottedBostonUniversityMugar

as it held textiles materials and books on many fine actresses and some of Boston's outstanding citizens of Celtic Ancestry.
Thank you always for such loveliness. It pleases the palette just so.
