This pair of 19th-century Japanese lacquered kimono boxes from J.F. Chen caught my eye for two reasons: Sunday, October 10th is the last day to see Fashioning Kimono: Art Deco and Modernism in Japan at the Birmingham Museum of Art, and I'm currently working on a project inspired by the tradition of placing Asian boxes on stands. (Hopefully it will be post-worthy.)
The antique rectangular J.F. Chen boxes are black lacquered and gilt decorated with a leaf motif. Click here to see more.
