That Chair Again

Can't believe I missed this. Two great things in one Milk-Bone® commercial: publicity for Canine Assistants® and Peter Dunham's How to Marry a Millionaire Side Chair.

In case you don't know the origins of the chair, it is based on a piece attributed to T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and seen in the 1953 film, How to Marry a Millionaire.

I think a lot of people remember how appealing Dunham's chairs looked on Jennifer Garner's patio in this photograph by Patrick Demarchelier from the fall/winter Vogue Living, 2007. And in Annie Kelly's soon-to-be-released book, Rooms to Inspire in the City, there is a beautiful image of the chairs used indoors, in Dunham's own library-dining room.

Two years ago,  a helpful reader said she remembered seeing the "Millionaire" chair in the 1954 movie Three Coins in the Fountain. Can you make out the one she spotted, in the far left corner of the screengrab from YouTube, directly above? Jean Negulesco did direct both How to Marry a Millionaire and Three Coins.
