Gracious Living

I'm coming dangerously close to sharing too many images from Karen Carroll's Entertaining with Southern Style. But it's gorgeous and filled with great ideas. Be sure to see Marcia Sherrill's profile of Carroll in this week's Introspective. As many of you know, Carroll is Editor-in-Chief of Southern Accents and she also edits Entree (the magazine for Neiman Marcus and BG customers).

I think you will enjoy learning more about her thoughts on the eccentric, beautiful region that is the South, as well as her views on publishing.

Directly above, an ingenious alternative to the unsightly ice cooler -- a dripstone in a creek provides natural refrigeration. Not something most of us have at hand at every outdoor party, but definitely worth a try if the situation arises!

Thanks for the tip about Southern Accents. Enjoyed the profile and have actually bought a recent copy of the magazine — not something this Wisconsin girl usually does! But I am becoming a big fan of Phoebe Howard.

And thanks for yesterday's textile. Are you able to find Halli on the newsstand or do you subscribe? I can't seen to find it here in Madison, Wi and I would like to be able to get it — at least occasionally. Also you are the only person I've ever seen link to Marla Mallett — one of my favorite sources for treats. I collect Uzbek hats and about half have come from Marla.

And I've clipped everything I can find on C. Irving's apartment — a textile lover's dream.

Thanks as always for a great blog. You are one of the folks who's inspired me to start my own. Stop by when you have a minute. Here's the address:

Megan -- I love that, "sound."

The dripstone cooler, now that is a good idea... I suppose I could turn on the city firehydrant at the corner. But it wouldn't have the same charm.

Thanks for the pictures!

Does anyone know where the whippet/greyhound statue can be found? I've been looking for one just like it for my garden. Thanks!

Brenna -- try innergardens.com

If i find something specific, I'll share.

Chris -- no, not quite the same. Although maybe you could put an elegant spin on anything!

These photos are gorgeous. Going to track down the book now, but...ummm... I will not put my silver in a creek, not even, if it were (gasp! swoon!) plated....
Be well!
