Reader Request: Reinventing Chairs

A reader living in New York City wants to have her mid-century Danish chair stripped, refinished and reupholstered. I suggested she consult the Franklin Report for possible craftsmen. But if you have had a positive experience with any New York-based workrooms -- and are willing to share your sources -- please let us know in the comment section here.

The wingback chair, seen above in an Amagansett, New York house designed by Steven Gambrel, was featured in Elle Decor, June-July 2002. (Years before the debut of Anthropologie's popular wingback chair upholstered in lively Josef Frank fabric.)

Dear Anne,

I'm a big fan of your blog. I also happen to be listed as one of the top rated professionals in the Franklin Report - NY edition under Upholstery and Window Treatments.

I'd love to be part of your blog - providing added insight into the world of window treatments and fabric.

Most sincerely,

I bought 2 MCM swivel chairs at Las Venus (on Stanton & Ludlow St.), brought my own fabric and had them reupholstered there by Carlos. It was a perfect job. They will do outside jobs as well.
