Color Inspiration: Alexej von Jawlensky

Alexej von Jawlensky's iconic, circa 1910, Schokko With Wide-Brimmed Hat recently sold at auction for a record 9,428,500 pounds. Sotheby's London handled the sale. In the painting a riot of hot colors -- reds, oranges, pinks -- vibrate against smaller hits of cooler but still rather electric chartreuse and blue. A nice podcast about the February 8 Impressionist & Modern sale is available in iTunes.
