Find of the Week: Cut-Paper

Another amazing work created with cut-paper and tinsel. This colorful 19th-century piece is available through Hollyhock. In centuries past, well-bred young ladies (think Emma) were expected to be proficient at all sorts of "drawing room arts" such as needlework and cut-paper pictures. Contemporary artists working with cut-paper include Kara Walker and Melbourne artist Emma van Leest.

Beautiful! It's a shame that no one seems to have the time or inclination to pursue these arts anymore.
