Speaking of Africa and Books...

Images copyright Taschen.

Another Africa-related book on my wish list is photographer and diarist Peter Beard's weighty Collector's Edition, 965 Elephants. Recently published by Taschen, the book sold out almost immediately. When a copy is available, it costs thousands. But Beard’s collages look stunning.

Peter Beard is such a legend! I met him once at a party and was completely starstruck! I wish I had $10,000 to buy one of his collector's editions! They are amazing!

Thanks for the introduction to Peter Beard.
Have a great weekend. :)

I was surprised how young he looks for a man in his late 60's. But I guess a younger wife helps ;-)

A classic. That book looks amazing. They even sell it's own stand to go with it.

you must stop. I am resisting the urge for a safari this year (this, of all years, is not the year for me to go)....but your visions of Africa are calling!

(But inside I'm thanking you for the torture ;)

I did a report on PB in college for my art history class and since then have LOVED his work- especially the collages. Come to find out, my husband's father was his roomate at Yale!!! I almost died, and my husband had no idea who he was!

Erin, wow! Have you come across any great family photos, from your father-in-law's college days?
