I love finding centuries-old designs so brilliant that they still look fresh today. Trendy in fact. Both pieces here are from Colefax Antiques, in London.
Shown top is a late 18th century chair in the Chinese-Chippendale style (an English design inspired by Asian lattice.) This one is seen everywhere now -- in literal reproductions as well as looser interpretations from West Elm. Second is a modern stool, covered with a 19th century geometric needlepoint panel. Perhaps a precursor to Jonathan Adler's pillows?

Brook Street is heaven! And the people are absolutely the most charming and helpful. I love Colefax and Fowler - I love it even more when I have a client who wants that look; few and far between these days.
