Decorating Range

Above, interior design, Ruthie Sommers; photography Grey Crawford as seen in Elle, April 2007. Last image, of pool cabana, is from the October 2006 issue of California Style Magazine.

Generous and always observant Sara, over at Paper Lily, was kind enough to let me know about another Ruthie Sommers-decorated home recently published in Elle, the fashion edition. The cozy -- yet ever so glamorous -- house belongs to Zoe Schaeffer, owner of the L.A. boutique, Presse. You may remember the bungalow's to-die-for pool cabana from the October 2006 issue of California Style Magazine. One thing I enjoyed about Elle's coverage was the view of Schaeffer's fresh breakfast nook, shown here top. Oh those chairs!

Sommers seems to have great range. Her distinct point of view is always evident but her projects really reflect the clients. Hopefully even more lush views of the Schaeffer home will be published in Sommers's upcoming book, The L.A. House.

Thank you for the kind words. I love the table and chairs in the breakfast nook as well. The pattern on the chair is gorgeous!

I love the breakfast room picture too and I especially love the dining chairs covered in that gorgeous Manuel Canovas fabric.

Good point- Sommers does have quite a range. This house, which is so vibrant, looks so different from the beach house she designed in the current HB- that one being so serene.
