Bright Flowers: Textiles And Ceramics Of Central Asia

Beyond the Silk Road: Arts of Central Asia

In recent years Australia's Powerhouse Museum has organized two sumptuous exhibitions that I wish I could have seen: Bright Flowers and Beyond the Silk Road. The exhibition catalog, Beyond the Silk Road: Arts of Central Asia, is already out of print and hard to get a hold of, but the lavish book, Bright Flowers: Textiles And Ceramics Of Central Asia, is available for sale in the U.S. as well as through the Powerhouse Museum.

Speaking of Eastern arts, Dr. Vishakha N. Desai will present a free illustrated talk, The Rise of China and India: The Future of Past Traditions on Wednesday, February 7, at 6 p.m. at Atlanta's High Museum of Art. And here's a link to a related past post: Eastern Inspired.

Hi Lucy!
Thanks for the kudos -- your comment made my afternoon! Yes, underwhelmed is exactly the word I'd use for Top Design. I think the show is lacking a genuine Tim Gunn sort of mentor but I'll give it a few more trys. Have a great day!
