The Monuments Men

[Video available at The Monuments Men]

Cate Blanchett as art historian and French spy, Rose Valland; Matt Damon as former Met director, James J. Rorimer; and George Clooney as innovative art conservator and lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, George Stout? I think I'll make time in my holiday schedule to see this movie.

As you've probably heard, Clooney is directing and starring in the film adaptation of Robert Edsel's nonfiction, The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History, slated for December 2013 release. In the meantime, you can catch Edsel at the Birmingham Museum of Art this Thursday evening, June 6 at 7 p.m. The author will be in town to discuss his latest book, Saving Italy: The Race to Rescue a Nation’s Treasures from the Nazis. Admission is free and open to the public.
