Back in January I mentioned that 2012 is artist/naturalist/adventurous spirit Mark Catesby's  tercentennial in America. Since that posting, a detailed celebration itinerary has been added to the revamped Catesby Commemorative Trust site, and this morning Enfilade offered specifics on the upcoming fall conference.

In the earlier post, I included a link to UVA's digitized version of Catesby's The Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands but I wanted to follow up with another resource stumbled upon by following some new links at the Trust's improved site: Botanica Caroliniana, a Furman project, offers a chance to peek inside Catesby's tome and see the spectacular color plates magnified. Inspiration abounds for 21st century designers and artists.
