The holidays are over but Spotlight on Art's special sneak peek continues at Saks, Atlanta, throughout the month. Tomorrow, Friday, January 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., the store is hosting a little reception, Saks Night Out, and the public is invited. If you can make it, you may bump into one of the artists.

Atlanta's own critically-acclaimed Jenny Henley has work in this installation. She cites Robert Rauschenberg’s transfers as an important influence on her evolution. Although, what you'll notice seeing her pieces in person is a distinct lacquer-like surface. At the moment, I'm very drawn to her painting above, black stallion. In addition to this work Henley has some much smaller pieces on view in the Spotlight preview too. An image over at her site gives a good sense of the scale.

The preview show is at Saks, Phipps Plaza main level, and includes ceramics and other decorative pieces in addition to fine art. Proceeds benefit Sheltering Arms and Trinity School scholarship funds.

The painting is gorgeous. I always love horse paintings and this one is among the top. Happy New Year!
