Give Me Liberty

My hopes were raised when I saw this book cover in the V & A's online shop, but then dashed about three seconds later. Part of the Museum's terrific, ever-expanding series, V&A Pattern: Liberty & Co.  (by archivist Anna Buruma) is now available for pre-orders -- just not for holiday giving. The book is expected to be released April 2012, in conjunction with a big exhibition planned for next year: British Design.

We've talked about the pattern series before. I love these affordable, well-illustrated little primers which always include a free CD of hi-res images. Liberty & Co.  may be ordered alone or as part of a boxed set along with Modern British Designers, Heal's and Sanderson 1954-74. Post WW II design is the focus of this group.

BTW, you'll find the V & A's Liberty hub here. And more of Buruma with Central St Martins College winning design students here.

I don't know why but I do love this, these whole idea. You'll just have to keep your stocking hanging until spring.
