A Matter of Perception

On view at Hollins' Eleanor D. Wilson Museum July 16 through August
22, 2009: Barbara Bernstein: Things are not what they seem, nor are they otherwise.

This site-specific exhibition will reinterpret well-known architectural elements from Hollins' historic campus such as streams, benches, walkways, and the iconic columns. In her artist's statement, Bernstein says that her work plays with perceptions and perspective while incorporating familiar components. Her preferred materials include electrical tape, contact paper, construction paper and foam core. A related lecture is scheduled on July 16 at 6 p.m. at the school's Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center. Click here to learn more about the installation.
