Nearly every day I receive a barrage of information about new technologies that often don't particularly pique my interest, but ben® Color Capture™, an iPhone application developed by Benjamin Moore, sounds fun and practical. Apparently while you are out exploring the city, walking in the park, or just hanging out in the backyard, you can snap a picture of anything that inspires and instantly match its shade to one of the more than 3,300 hues in Benjamin Moore’s color range.
The app has features that allow you to save your favorites for color coordination and comparison, and those favorites can be enlarged to the size of the iPhone screen for easier viewing. The application is free and will be available for download beginning June 1. Just visit the AppStore Web site, search for ben and select to install.

It is possible that the new app will not be available until the end of the first week in June.

WHAT is this crazy application! I'm getting an iphone when the new ones come out early this summer as a bday gift -this will be my first thing I download!
Brilliant idea & free!!! A perfect combo!!!
My iPhone was a splurge that has been worth it. I just love the camera and being able to watch a movie or answer work email if I'm stuck in a dentist's waiting room etc. Plus for me the touch screen is physically so easy to use. Hope you enjoy yours Stefan!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this fabulous information Courtney! I recently got an iPhone and will download shortly. Love it.
Have a good weekend...hopefully the rain will hold off.
Blessings...
Wow! What will they thing of next! I hope someone will download and use it and post about the results if they try the paint matching..that will be neat...

Still stop by everyday... no time for comments..trying see what you all are up to!
Happy Weekend!
Thanks Renae. Enjoy the long weekend!
Ivy -- thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the weekend.
Thanks for this tidbit. We've used lots of BM paint in our house and I'm showing this to my husband to put on his iPhone. I'm still a cell-phone holdout but iPhone may just convince me, especially with apps like this.
I always say it's not technology that's bad, it's how people use it. You can enjoy all the creative and practical aspects of the iPhone without ever talking on the phone too loudly in public :)
I will have to get my kids to download this; they know so much about technology! And you are right; it is the people out there who make technology work for the wrong cause~!
Have a good weekend, also loved the post below on 3 wishes!

wow. i want an iphone so much! but alas, it is too much of a splurge at the present moment, but i think that it is so beautiful that all of these apps, these tiny bits of technology were out there waiting for the perfect container. although i am primarily a technophobe, this is exciting!
This is just fabulous! I found a web app a while back that could do this, but it was much more cumbersome. Talk about instant gratification. Cool.
way too cool!
Have been unplugged all weekend, and it feels good in a way...still doesn't stop me from wanting an iPhone! Such a delight to see the Dumbarton Oaks photograph ~ thank you!
This sounds amazing -- can't wait to try it! It sounds like the color equivalent of Shazam, which I use all the time to identify songs. Have you tried that one?
Karen -- no, I'll have to try that! Sounds great.
Janet -- it's nice to unplug for a while!
The iphone is such a mad invention. so many cool apps to check out! my hubbie just launched his--if you like wine you will love it: wine phd.
This makes me want to buy an iPhone!
That's the coolest thing ever! If only I had an iphone. Le sigh.

Ivy,
I am afraid this app has a way to go to be really useful.. I spent nearly 10 hours testing it and comparing it to other iPhone color apps... I love Benjamin Moore paints, but am a bit disappointed in this app
