Reader Request: Pardah Print Substitute

"Ahal" from Robert Kime

"Pardah Print" from Lee Jofa

A reader is searching for one and a half yards of Lee Jofa's discontinued "Pardah Print," in sable/flame. (Currently featured on page 22 of the December House & Garden.) If she can't hunt down a remnant, she is open to alternate suggestions. I'm partial to Robert Kime's ikats, but the reader hasn't quite found the perfect thing there. Thoughts?

This is horrible news - I just presented this memo to a client. Sadly, I have no substitutes to offer as I searched high and low for just the thing, and this was it. If she is in the "trade" I'd have her call her showroom and see if anyone can locate a wing wall of it - I have had luck with that before. I've also googled a discontinued fabric with a little bit of luck. Oh this is the worst feeling. The one that got away.

Hi Mrs. Blandings. I left a comment on your blog a while back regarding my Le Lac fabric (inspired living). I'm the one searching for the Pardah Print. Very disappointing. When I saw this fabric, I knew it was the one for a small chair in my living room. It seems so current - similar to what we're seeing in stylish homes and magazines. I am secretly hoping the Lee Jofa reissues it. I do love the Robert Kime fabrics but haven't found one with these specific colors (cream, gold, chocolate and red). I am looking for a bold fabric - an ikat, butah print, champan robe or a suzani (that I'd cut up). Courtney led me to a Austalian company that possibly has some yardage of the Pardah Print. I'll let you know what I hear back.

How terrible! What I love about the Lee Jofa print is the vibrancy of the colors. Wish I could help, but don't have any suggestions :(

Inspired - good luck! Do let me know what you find as I will be on the hunt again as well. If I turn up anything, I'll post it.

Kravet has a wonderful heavy upholstery weight Ikat in their Laura Ashley line. The pattern number is LA1317. The image that they have online is misleading as the design is quite large scale...25" v. repeat. It comes in a broad colorway also. Good luck!

I was at the dec center today in Houston and like I told
Courtney - it's seems that every major house is has one or two ikats in their line. You need to go to your nearest dec center and just start going through the showrooms. Ikats are so similar, I'm sure be able to find something with the colors you are looking for.

I'm going to head into the D&D next week. Making the mental decision to move on is the hardest part. Fortunately, I'm only looking for minimal yardage for an accent piece. It would be a different situation if I had selected this fabric for draperies.

Thomas - Love the Kravet fabric...

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Such an interesting name for the fabric! "Pardah" is a Hindi word and means "curtain" :-)
