The Sari Option

A few years ago, Amelia Handegan used a gorgeous turquoise Indian sari on a Charleston four-poster-bed published in Southern Accents. I've never forgotten it. A sumptuous silk sari instantly adds that well-traveled flair to a bed (even if it was purchased a block away from your apartment or via eBay.) And of course, it's easy to whisk off and store if you grow tired of it.

Above, I've assembled a little inspiration board for a bedroom with a fresh white tufted headboard and a brocaded ikat sari from Marla Mallett.

Beautiful blue-green saris on philanthropist Dianne Cash (left) and Allison Dixon, of Novare Group. (Visit Novare if you are searching for a great condominium in the Southeast.) Prices for Indian saris vary greatly, from $700 or more for a good antique to less than $20 on eBay.

Related reading, Rajasthan.

Cash was photographed by Tria Giovan for Southern Accents, July-August 2006.

Love it!!! The white headboard is a great idea and the sari will be a nice pop of color. Great inpsiration board Courtney!

Ok--this may be my favorite of the options you have posted. I like that it is a little less sweet and bit more layered (and versatile too). I think it is a really pretty combination and would incorporate your love of Indian textiles.
