On the Hunt

Okay, I realize I can be heavy on the Chapman Radcliff-related posts, but this small painted zebra chest, on a brass stand, is too fabulous not to discuss. Currently available via 1stdibs, it would be perfect for a small corner of my bedroom, offering flair and function. Not to mention being a "forever" piece that would work in a jillion different settings. Although this chest is beyond my budget at the moment, I think it has inspired me to hunt for (or make) something similar. Any thoughts?

I know I am strange, but this piece (should it have another handle on the other side and be a solid color) made me immediately think of the ark of the covenant scene in Indiana Jones.

It's the style of the handle and the brass that's doing that to me.

I'm sorry. Do you need a case element? A zebra ottoman would be another thought.

Robin,

An ottoman is a great idea. I actually already have one though in my bedroom (not zebra.) This chest appeals because it is less than 2 feet square and offers storage :) An
alternative to a zebra rug too.

Thanks for the thought!

I agree with you- the piece packs a stylish punch, but it's def. functional too. I especially love that brass stand. Wonder what the cost would be to have it fabricated locally?

Jennifer, you read my mind!

It's so unusual, and for a diminutive piece very impactful. Isn't it frustrating when you find the perfect thing--completely unattainable? I agree it would be worth looking into getting it made...

Also, I can never get enough Chapman Radcliff, so don't worry about that ;)

This is such a great accent piece, and a room definintely loves an accent piece to generate those interesting conversations. I love this one!

You could never be too heavy on Ruthie. My thoughts straight from the mounth of John Saladino...."First buy the luxuries, the necessities take care of themselves." Sorry, I don't think a knock-off would have the same ambience.

OK, I love this! In my next life, I hope that money grows on trees and that I can come back as Ruthie Sommers!

Very cool anonymous! Thanks. I'm trying to follow-up this week with another post, so I'll probably include this.
