Elsie-Inspired

Photo above, Paul Costello for Domino, May 2006. Click to see details.

The other day when I mentioned dressing room/offices, I neglected to include the trellised space created by New Orleans designer, Vesta Fort. As a budget-friendly fix for water damage, Fort nail-gunned brown-painted Home Depot lattice to her walls, according to Domino. Her inspiration came from decorating pioneer, Elsie de Wolfe.

American-born de Wolfe was enamored of all things French and 18th-century. Using light, airy garden trellis indoors was her signature.

Above is a William Rankin painting of de Wolfe's trellised music room at Villa Trianon. Charlotte Moss, an avid collector of interior renderings, now owns it. Below is a cup and saucer in the "Elsie" pattern, part of Moss' new line of dinnerware for Pickard. The set costs $100 and is available for purchase on Moss' site.

I've seen framed in trellis headboards, I love the look of trellis on the walls.

I love how Vesta Ford has slip covered her desk. Good lattice reference to Elsie de Wolfe.
